General Annotation Collection/20151014/4 (cite/perseus/pdlann.241.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - The Himerus title of the page needs a person annotation. Hesiod and Megara need a person annotation. Overall very nice work! October 23, 2015 16:35
General Annotation Collection/20151014/10 (cite/perseus/pdlann.247.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - This is nice work over all, but there are some corrections that need to be made. The bios in the person annotations should look like "vesta-bio-1". All the person tags should be fixed to take the numbers off the front of the bio reference. There is one Cybele person annotation that needs a bio reference added. Delphi, Olympia, and Hermione all need place annotations. There is one Vesta toward the end that needs a person annotation. The last annotation on the article needs tags. These are minor problems and you both did a great job for such a large article! October 23, 2015 17:05
General Annotation Collection/20151014/3 (cite/perseus/pdlann.240.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - Most of your annotation work is correct. The biggest mistake you made was not making any relation annotations. Many people seemed to struggle with these so I will explain exactly how to do them. In addition to making a person annotation for a name, if the person also has a relationship with the mythological figure of the page you create a relation ship tag. Nereus is the son of Pontus. When Pontus's name appears in the article you should make a relation annotation that lists the highlighted person's relationship back to Nereus. For Pontus the body of the annotation would say "father" and the tags would be "relation" and "PSN". This was the one major problem that needs to be fixed. There were a few small mistakes to fix as well. The words "Mediterranean" and "Aegean Sea" are both locations that need place annotations. The name Virgil is missing a person annotation. That is everything. I hope making the relation annotations goes well for you. Let me know if I can help. October 24, 2015 00:00
General Annotation Collection/20151014/20 (cite/perseus/pdlann.257.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - The person annotations on the article all look good, but there are still quite a few mistakes that need to be fixed. Many groups had trouble with the relation annotations so I will explain how to correctly do them in detail. The tags you put on the relation annotations are correct, but the word in the body should be how the highlighted person relates back to Helios. For example, if you were making a relation annotation for Selene the body would contain the word "sister" because that is the highlighted person's relation to Helios. For Theia it should say "mother". Please go through all of your relation annotations and fix this mistake. Names that have relation annotations also need separate person tags. I think almost all of the names that have relation tags in your article are missing person tags. There are also a few repeated annotations that should be deleted. Finally, towards the end the annotations seem to trail off. You need to go and finish them there. I noticed some place annotations in particular that are missing. Good luck with your revisions and let me know if you need any help! October 26, 2015 03:46
General Annotation Collection/20151023/3 (cite/perseus/pdlann.277.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - This entire article needs to be gone over again because there many missing annotations. I know this is a very large article, but there are three of you. Divide it up into equal portions and have everyone contribute. Right now you have far fewer annotations than many groups with smaller articles. Every mythological figure who has an entry in the Dictionary of Greek and Roman biography and mythology on Perseus needs a person annotation. It does not matter if the name is repeating. There needs to be a separate person annotation for each instance of a person’s name. People who have relationships with Dionysus need relation annotations in addition to that. All named locations should have a place annotation. If you are having trouble completing this assignment come see me during my office hours. November 03, 2015 18:09
General Annotation Collection/20151023/2 (cite/perseus/pdlann.276.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - Most of your annotations look great. Your group has a long article, but you were very thorough. Most of your relation annotations have a mistake that I have seen quite often. The relationship you write in the body of the annotation should explain how the mythological figure relates back to Prometheus. For example, your annotation for Clymene should say "Mother" in the body because this is her connection to Prometheus. You should also only have relationship annotations for character's relationships with Prometheus. I am not sure why Clymene has a second relationship annotation that says "Husband" in the body. Sicyon, Scythia, mount Caucasus, Panopeus need place annotations. There were also three person annotations that were missing tags. Please edit the annotations to add them. November 29, 2015 23:15
General Annotation Collection/20151110/2 (cite/perseus/pdlann.289.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - You made a very common mistake with the relation annotations and wrote the wrong thing in the comments section. The word in it should be the relationship of the highlighted person to Nereus. For example, a relation annotation of Pontus should say “Father” in the body because this is how HE relates to Nereus. You will need to go through and fix this mistake for your relation annotations. The person annotation for Virgil is missing one tag. I will grade your characterization and attestation annotations separately, but comment on them both here. The stable URLs in the bodies of the characterization annotations should link to texts in the appropriate language. If you are citing "old man" link the URL to the text in English. All of your links go to the texts in either Latin or Greek. It is fine if there is no translation available, but there are in most or all of these cases. To find the English translation on Perseus go to the page of the Latin or Greek text, look for a bar on the right side that says "English", then click on the link in that bar that says "focus". This should bring you to the English translation and you should use the stable URL from that page. November 30, 2015 00:04
General Annotation Collection/20151014/4 (cite/perseus/pdlann.241.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - Characterizations referencing an English word should be a link to the English, not to the Latin or Greek. On the page of the Latin or Greek text look for a bar on the right side that says "English", then click on the link in that bar that says "focus". This should bring you to the English translation and you should use the stable URL from that page. Use this link for the phrase "lovely voice". You also need to remove the second to last annotation that is listed on your google spreadsheet. I believe that it existed at some time, but was later deleted. When the computer tries to find it from the link on the spreadsheet there is an error. I also need you to reverse a change that I asked you to make. Unfortunately I misunderstood the instructions for the relation annotations and thought you were doing them incorrectly. You actually had it correct the first time and I will change your first grade to reflect this. Please change the relation annotations so they again describe Himerus's relation to that person, i.e. "son" for Aphrodite's relation annotation. I am very sorry for this mistake on my part. General Annotation Collection/2015122/2 (cite/perseus/pdlann.304.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - I did not catch this mistake the first time so I will not take any points off, but you need to fix the comments in your relation annotations. The words should describe Hestia's relation to that person, i.e. "daughter" for Cronus and "aunt" for Artemis. Please go through and correct this for your relation annotations. Some of your attestation annotations have links to other annotations that no longer exist. The annotations for Diod. 5.68 and Hom. Od. 14.159 have hypothesis links that do not work. If you do not have any relation annotation to link these back to you do not need to make attestation annotations for them. December 09, 2015 05:16
General Annotation Collection/20151014/20 (cite/perseus/pdlann.257.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - Your article is completely missing characterization annotations. You only need to do two or three of them. Make them by annotating Helios's name as the title of the page. The attestation annotations for Hom. Od. 12.176 and Hes. Th. 371, &c should be split up into three separate annotations, each with a different hypothesis link. Split up all of your attestation annotations that have multiple hypothesis links like this. The attestation annotations for Hes. Th. 1011 and Od. 1.24 are producing an error. The computer cannot read the link in the comment section. I think this is because there is a only space between the two links. You need to press enter after the first link and then put the second one. This should fix the problem. You also have many attestation annotations that have no hypothesis links. You only need to create these annotations for sources that are proving a relationship annotation. If there is no relation annotation to refer back to, you do not need to create an attestation annotation. I notice that you still have many duplicate annotations, mostly relation annotations. You need to go through an fix this on the page and then make sure you change your google spreadsheet to match. Be sure that all changes you make to your page are reflected in your spreadsheet. I also need you to reverse a change that I asked you to make. Unfortunately I misunderstood the instructions for the relation annotations and thought you were doing them incorrectly. You actually had it correct the first time and I will change your first grade to reflect this. Please change the relation annotations so they again describe Helios's relation to that person, i.e. "son" for Hyperion's relation annotation. I am very sorry for this mistake on my part. General Annotation Collection/20151022/1 (cite/perseus/pdlann.274.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - Three of your characterization annotations are done incorrectly. Just look at your correct ones as an example. They should reference a specific word from a primary source, not from the dictionary itself. Out of your correctly done annotations two are duplicates and three of them refer to the exact same word. Try to find one more quality to make an annotation about and delete the duplicates and incorrectly done characterizations. You still have four person annotations that are completely missing tags. Without tags the computer cannot process these annotations. The annotations are for Aeschylus, two for Prometheus, and Athena towards the end of the article. There are several relation annotations for the same person with conflicting terms. Example: towards the beginning Clymene has two separate annotations, one says "son" and the other "husband". Prometheus is her son so you only need the one that says son. The other needs to be deleted. Two attestation annotations for Hes. Th. 507 contain hypothesis links that no longer exist. Check the links for these and makes sure they are correct. December 09, 2015 06:02
General Annotation Collection/20151023/3 (cite/perseus/pdlann.277.1)  Vote ReturnToRevise - I see barely any changes in this article from the last time it was turned in, there are no characterization annotations at all, and the few attestation annotations in the article are done incorrectly. I am not going to take the time to detail each of your mistakes here because I feel that you are not taking my criticisms seriously. If you still are interested in improving your grade someone will need to come see me and go over your mistakes. If this does not happen I will recommend that Prof Beaulieu not publish your work with the others. December 09, 2015 06:23
